In ancient times, his world was dominated by what was known as aethertech: technology focused around recoding how nature itself works. Unfortunately, the technology itself caused a major disaster; Kayan comes from the one known safe haven, a great tower city, where people like himself who can use aethertech are in a minority and the tech that survives is slowly breaking down.
Kayan's a thoughtful but awkward guy, who constantly feels like he's not living up to what he could or should be; he's worried that his tactical skills are going to let the team down sooner or later. He was just a regular coded technician-in-training before he faceplanted into the opportunity to join an expedition...
